Which Microsoft 365 plan do you need?

Most businesses with up to 300 people choose one of the three Business plans. The main differences are whether you need the installed desktop Office apps, and whether you need built-in security and device management.

Choose Business Basic if your team works in the browser and needs email and Teams. Choose Business Standard for the desktop Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook apps. Choose Business Premium if you hold customer data, have remote staff or need to manage laptops and phones securely.

Microsoft 365 for larger organizations

Business plans are limited to 300 users. Above that, or when you need Windows Enterprise rights and advanced compliance, use Microsoft 365 Enterprise plans: Microsoft 365 E3 and E5, or Office 365 E1, E3 and E5 if you manage devices with other tools.

Email, Teams, Copilot and security

If you only need email, Exchange Online Plan 1 is the lowest-cost option. Teams Essentials covers meetings and chat without the full suite. Add AI with Microsoft 365 Copilot Business, or protect devices on Basic and Standard with Defender for Business.

Annual or monthly billing?

Annual plans cost about 20% less than monthly billing and fix your price for 12 months. Monthly plans let you reduce users at each renewal. With both, you can add users at any time, and you can cancel within 7 days (168 hours) of purchase or renewal for a prorated refund, in line with Microsoft’s rules.

Setup and migration

We add licenses to your tenant, or create one for you, and can move your email, files and calendars from Google Workspace, IMAP or another tenant with our setup and migration service. Admin access is requested through Microsoft’s GDAP, so you approve every permission and can remove it at any time.

What is the difference between Microsoft 365 Business Standard and Premium?

Both include the desktop Office apps, email, Teams and 1 TB of OneDrive storage. Business Premium adds Intune device management, Defender for Business, Defender for Office 365 Plan 1, Entra ID P1 with Conditional Access and a 1.5 TB email archive.

Can I mix Microsoft 365 plans in one business?

Yes. You can give different users different plans, for example Business Premium for managers and Business Basic for front-line staff, as long as the total for Business plans stays within 300 users.

Do Microsoft 365 Business plans include Copilot?

All plans include Copilot Chat with web grounding. Copilot inside Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams needs the Copilot Business add-on or a plan that bundles it, such as Business Premium with Copilot.
